Dating website eHarmony has unveiled its compatibility algorithm that has been helping people find each other for the last 16 years. Although the site’s algorithm has been kept private until now, the developers have decided to reveal it so that users can better understand why they’ve been matched with others.
“We’ve been investigating and working to understand what makes long-term relationships successful for nearly 20 years. We are excited to be pulling back the curtain on our algorithm and showcasing why two people are fit as well as introducing new features to help people jump start a meaningful relationship. We want to set people up on their last first date,” said Grant Langston, chief executive officer of eHarmony.
One of the new features mentioned is called “The Two of You Together”, and it displays what eHarmony calls “dimensions of compatibility that predict successful and lasting relationships”. Here, users can see how well their emotional energy and intellect jive with others.
Additionally, the site’s latest version will include up to 90% more opportunities for connections, which is quite possibly due to the fact they’re shortening their profile questionnaire.
